Caring for God's Creation

Resolution 2006-5

RESOLVED, that the 222nd Convention of Diocese of Maryland, meeting May 5-6, 2006, responding to the efforts of our bishops and the Committee on the Environment (COE), encourages every parish and mission to establish a Committee on Caring for God’s Creation; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that each congregation, as part of its Stewardship responsibility, is urged to undertake activities to care for God's creation through sermons and adult and church school education; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that each congregation is encouraged to establish a Creation Sunday for special emphasis on environmental awareness and its theological appropriateness. The Committee suggests Sunday, October 1, 2006, or some other Sunday in Creation Season.
