Title: Comprehensive and Affordable Health Care for all Citizens
RESOLVED, that the 222nd Convention of Diocese of Maryland, meeting May 5-6, 2006, supports U.S. Congressional efforts to ensure that every U.S. citizen, natural or lawful resident alien is provided with comprehensive and affordable Health Care coverage; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that to this end, the Diocese of Maryland will advocate a dialogue involving policy makers and the public on every level, especially with regard to the United States Health Insurance Act of 2005 (S.B. b. 676) and the America Health Security Act of 2005 (H.R. 1200), both of which would accomplish the goal of Universal Health Care; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Secretary of Convention is directed to submit this Resolution as a Memorial to the appropriate committee of the 75th General Convention of the Episcopal Church for its consideration and action.
