Congregational Apportionments (Pledges)
RESOLVED, that the 223rd Convention of the Diocese of Maryland, meeting May 4-5, 2007, continue its commitment to pledge a portion of Congregational income to the Mission and Ministry of the Diocese of Maryland and the Episcopal Church; and be it further
RESOLVED, that the formula used to calculate congregational apportionments allow budgeted outreach and allocations paid by December 31st to be included in the 4% expense deduction; and be it further
RESOLVED that the 223rd Convention adopt the following new calculation for all congregational apportionments:
The apportionment will be the lesser of the following:
18% of the three year average Net Operating Income (NOI), parochial report line A, (e.g., years 2005, 2006, and 2007) less 4% of the prior year’s Net Operating Expenses (NOE), line E, and less $2,860.
Or
18% of the prior year’s Net Operating Income, parochial report line A, (e.g., 2007) less 4% of the prior year’s net operating expenses, line E, and less $2,860.
