Organist and Choir Director - Middleham and St. Peter's Parish, Lusby, MD
Middleham & St. Peter’s Parish, located in Lusby (Calvert County) is seeking a part-time organist/choir director. Organist duties include playing Sunday morning services at two locations – Middleham Chapel and St. Peter’s Chapel. Choir director duties include once a week choir practice and directing the choir at services (September-June). The candidate must be familiar with Episcopal liturgy, music that includes The Hymnal 1982, Lift Every Voice and Sing and a variety of other worship music. Candidate must be creative and flexible. Interim Director of Music- Immanuel Church, Glencoe, Baltimore County
Immanuel Episcopal Church is located in the peaceful, wooded setting of Glencoe, MD. We have a said service of Holy Eucharist Rite I at 8am, and a 10:15am service that makes use of both Morning Prayer and Holy Eucharist Rite II with music and choir. We seek an Interim Director of Music Ministries to work directly with the Rector in planning beautiful, meaningful worship to glorify God and to deepen our sense of community. Responsibilities include: selection of hymns in consultation with the Rector; selection of preludes, postludes, and anthems; organization and direction of the choir at one weeknight rehearsal, a Sunday morning rehearsal, and at the 10:15am service; and playing the organ for the 10:15am service. Also responsible for choir and organ at Feast days and other special services planned with the Rector and ministry leaders. Immediate goals include: providing increased variety in musical selections; occasionally incorporating children in music for worship; and recruiting new members and working to rebuild the choir after a time of transition. The current organ concert series may be continued, and other concerts or music-related events may be planned. Position begins in September and is expected to last through May 2011; the Interim Director may apply for the regular position when it is posted in 2011. Director of Children’s Ministries – St. Thomas’ Church, Owings Mills
Seeks Director of Children’s Ministries: responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing educational activities that enhance spiritual development and ministry involvement for children and youth. Position is 20 hours per week, year-round, with potential to negotiate additional hours for youth ministry oversight. Salary range $18K-$25K, based on experience.
Duties include, but are not limited to, develop and/or procure Sunday School curriculum that is spiritually appropriate and engaging; recruit, train, schedule, and provide guidance to teachers and volunteers; prepare classrooms, materials, and lessons for weekly and special classes; collaborate with clergy, Christian Formation committee, teachers, and volunteers for long-range and short-term planning of curriculum, lessons and activities; oversee procurement/development and delivery of confirmation curriculum for youth who wish to be confirmed in the Christian faith and become members of St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church; plan and lead children’s activities for parish; attend regular meetings with staff, clergy, and Christian Formation committee; prepare and submit written updates for weekly bulletin, monthly newsletter, and annual church report, as well as maintain website content relative to children’s education and activities.

Part-time Music Director – St. Michael and All Angels, Baltimore, MD
Our parish has deep, shared roots in Anglican and African-American traditions and practices, and is in urgent need of a pianist and choir director who is skilled with ethnically and culturally diverse, contemporary and traditional choral and instrumental music in a church setting. Ability to play the pipe organ and familiarity with the Episcopal liturgy and hymnody would be helpful.
Initially, the position will require rehearsals for and playing at 10:00 am Sunday service of Holy Eucharist with a small adult choir, including some instrumentalists. The short-term goals for the Music Director include expansion of the congregation’s repertoire of contemporary and traditional Anglican, African, Latin, and other musical styles (utilizing acoustic and electric guitars, drums, woodwinds, etc.) and development of a youth choir (junior and senior high school students). Long-term goals include a non-Sunday music program of instrumental and choral concerts and special seasonal church music for services and performances with other church choirs.
Weekly rehearsal hours with choir and instrumentalists flexible (but required). Salary negotiable with experience. Target start date: 15 July 2010.
