FOCUS
Families of Clergy United in Support

FOCUS is comprised of individuals concerned with the health and well being of families of clergy. We seek to speak out so that the needs and concerns of those who provide the first level of support for clergy are not forgotten.

FOCUS seeks to serve families of clergy in the Episcopal Church, affirming their uniqueness, promoting mutual care and spiritual growth, advocating for their needs and encouraging joy.

Anyone interested in taking an active role in FOCUS is encouraged to contact Judy Cloughen or Gwen Spicer.

Clergy Family Conference at Rocky Gap October 17-19, 2010

FOCUS Offers Full Schedule of Events for Spouses and Partners

FOCUS (Families of Clergy United in Support) Steering Committee has played a very active role in planning for this year’s Clergy Family Conference. We are expecting a fine turnout from spouses and partners and, in return, we are planning a full and exciting agenda for you.

This year the conference will be at beautiful Rocky Gap Conference Center and it should be at the height of autumn leaf season. Both MECA (Maryland Episcopal Clergy Association) and FOCUS Conference planners have made certain that there will be ample time for attendees to enjoy and explore all the beauty of the area, as well as all the hiking trails, golf course and many other opportunities at the beautiful resort. (We have also heard that the food is fantastic!)

The cost to attend is $400 for a single room and $290 for a shared room. The fees do include most of the meals, with the exception of Sunday night.

The highlight of the conference for FOCUS will be a presentation by Sharon Rabb entitled India, Our Companion…. Millennium Development Goals and India, Our Companion...An Inside View. FOCUS members will hear about Bishop John and Sharon’s trip in May and she will relate that to ongoing mission work with India.

FOCUS members are invited to attend the opening address, An Introduction to the Hidden Power of the Gospel, from Conference keynote Dr.Alexander Shaia. We are really excited to report that our Steering Committee is nearing the call for a FOCUS Chaplain and we are expect to be able to introduce YOUR new Chaplain during the Conference!

There also will be a FOCUS meeting as well as a breakfast dialogue (Tuesday morning) with Bishops Eugene and John. This will give you the opportunity to hear them discus their vision as it relates to us, families of clergy. It is also a time for you to ask questions.

We do hope you will attend. It is a wonderful opportunity to renew old acquaintances and meet new ones. See you there!
